The Earth's Vibrational Constants: Understanding Schumann Resonance (and Why It Can't "Speed Up")
In the world of sound and well-being, we often hear about the "Earth's frequency", "the planet's accelerating heartbeat" or a supposed rise in Schumann resonance, associated with a "collective awakening of consciousness".
These ideas are widely circulated, but what does physics actually say?
Let's take stock, calmly and rigorously, of what a vibrational constant is, what Schumann resonance is, and why its physical mechanism prohibits any spectacular "acceleration".
What is Schumann resonance?

Schumann resonance is named after the German physicist Winfried Otto Schumann, who predicted its existence in 1952. It refers to a set of very low electromagnetic frequencies that naturally resonate in the space between the Earth's surface and the ionosphere.
In concrete terms: the Earth's surface is conductive, and the ionosphere (at an altitude of approximately 60 to 90 km) is also conductive. Between the two is an insulating layer, the atmosphere. This configuration forms a true planetary resonant cavity, much like a giant soundbox. The constant electrical discharges from thunderstorms (approximately 50 lightning strikes per second worldwide) excite this cavity, much like rubbing the rim of a glass to make it sing.
The result: a fundamental frequency of about 7.83 Hz, accompanied by secondary harmonics around 14.1 Hz, 20.3 Hz, 26.4 Hz, and 32.4 Hz.
Why do we speak of a "constant"?
What makes the Schumann frequency stable is not a convention or a belief: it is a direct consequence of the planet's physical geometry.
The fundamental frequency primarily depends on two elements:
- The Earth's circumference (approximately 40,000 km), which sets the possible wavelength of the resonance;

The speed of light, itself a universal physical constant.

The size of the Earth is known and cannot vary, hence the possibility of expressing its circumference, and thus its size, which is a constant that we can easily calculate and which would be exactly 40,075 km.
We also know the mathematical relationships that allow us to calculate the speed of light, a universal constant.
" Ole Rømer demonstrated in 1676 that it is finite. Scientists then set out to determine its value by various means, with accuracy improving over the years. By the end of the 19the century, it was established that it was approximately 300,000 km/s ; in 1975, the most accurate reliable result was 299,792,458 ± 1 m/s. In 1983, an international agreement redefined the meter such that the speed of light is exactly 299,792,458 m/s.

This can be summarized by a simple relationship: the resonant frequency is proportional to the speed of light divided by the Earth's circumference. As long as the Earth maintains its dimensions and the speed of light remains constant (which has shown no measurable variation in over a century of scientific observation), the fundamental frequency cannot shift significantly. This is not an opinion; it is a geometrical consequence.
Hans Cousto and the Cosmic Octave: Giving a Voice to the Rhythms of the Sky Since 1978
Following this idea of stable and measurable frequencies, it is difficult to talk about terrestrial vibrations without mentioning the work of Hans Cousto, a Swiss mathematician and musicologist born in 1948. In 1978, he published Die Kosmische Oktave (The Cosmic Octave), a work that laid the foundations for a method still widely used today in sound therapy.

His principle is based on a well-known musical law: doubling a frequency raises it by an octave, without changing its nature. Cousto applies this principle to astronomical cycles themselves, which are much too slow to be heard, by transposing them upwards through successive doublings until they become audible.
Thus, the Earth's revolution around the Sun (one year) becomes, after 32 successive octaves, a frequency of 136.10 Hz: this is the famous "OM note", widely used in meditation and singing bowls, and commonly associated with the heart chakra. In the same way, the Earth's rotation on its own axis (one day) gives, after 24 octaves, a frequency of 194.18 Hz, which Cousto named "the note of the Earth". He applied this same method to the cycles of the Moon, to those of the other planets in the solar system, and — the loop closes here with our previous subject — to the Schumann resonance itself.

Having met Hans in 2022 at cannatrade, the international cannabis fair held from May 20 to 22, 2022, in Bern, Switzerland, I was able to spend a lot of time with him. I presented my work in biocommunication, as I was invited by Roger Liggenstorfer from the publishing house nachtschatten, specializing in psychedelic plants, to "play" the therapeutic song of Peruvian tobacco and Cannabis at his booth. Another world premiere that I was happy to pioneer and share the experience with those present at the fair.
As an anecdote, when I asked Hans how he came up with the idea of calculating the frequencies of the planets, he told me that it was the mushrooms that whispered them to him. In other words, it was through reflection under psilocybin that this research was developed in 1978. This was followed by the writing of "The Cosmic Octave," which can be found as a free PDF here:

Here is a photo I took with Roger on the left and Jorge Cervantes, one of the world's leading specialists in cannabis cultivation, who also greatly appreciated my presentation on the song of this teaching plant.
What is essential to understand is that the octave is a purely mathematical operation (multiplying a frequency by 2, as many times as necessary): it changes neither the stability nor the nature of the original phenomenon; it simply makes it perceptible to the human ear. In other words, the OM note at 136.10 Hz is stable for exactly the same reason that an Earth year always lasts approximately 365 days: these are two ways of expressing one and the same cycle, one in days, the other in hertz.
Just like the Einstein/Planck equation I use to calculate the constants of molecular resonant frequencies, Hans Cousto's work highlights this reciprocity between the world of matter and the world of energies by using mathematical ratios to transition from one to the other.
It is interesting to note that Cousto himself presented his approach less as scientific proof than as a symbolic language: a bridge between rational knowledge (astronomy, mathematics) and a much older intuition, that of a "music of the spheres" connecting celestial movements to sounds and colors. This nuance is valuable, and it aligns exactly with what was said above about Schumann resonance: the value of these frequencies is not based on the idea that they are changing or accelerating to herald a collective transformation, but rather on their remarkable stability, rooted in astronomical and physical cycles that vary extraordinarily little on the scale of a human lifetime.
A stable frequency, but not fixed to the decimal point
It is true that measuring instruments record slight variations, but it is important to distinguish between two very different things:
Amplitude (signal intensity) does indeed vary according to the time of day, season, global thunderstorm activity, or solar activity. This is normal and well-documented: the more active tropical thunderstorms there are, the stronger the signal.
The fundamental frequency, however, remains anchored around 7.83 Hz, with minor fluctuations of a few tenths of a hertz, linked to temporary changes in the height or conductivity of the ionosphere (for example, during major solar flares). These variations are minimal and reversible: they do not indicate any underlying trend, much less a "runaway" of the planet.
Where does the myth of acceleration come from?
The idea that Schumann resonance has increased from 7.83 Hz to much higher values (sometimes 16, 30, or even 40 Hz in some viral content) has been circulating on the internet for several years, often accompanied by graphs whose source is never clearly identifiable or verifiable. This narrative has spread in certain circles related to personal development and spirituality, where it is sometimes interpreted as a sign of collective "vibrational elevation."
The problem is that this narrative confuses several things: occasional peaks in intensity (amplitude, not frequency), measurement noise from uncalibrated instruments or those located near human electromagnetic sources, and a symbolic reading of the word "vibration" that has little to do with the physical phenomenon measured by geophysicists. No published and verifiable scientific study reports a sustained drift in the fundamental Schumann frequency.
Here is an example of a graph that is often misinterpreted by some anxious people or those with certain beliefs. They assign meaning to it based on their own perspective, without considering several factors, to align it with their convictions.
Here we perceive a temporary increased activity going towards 30 Hz. To begin, we should "hear" a noise, as the human ear perceives sounds starting from 20 Hz. So, logically, anything above 20 Hz can be heard by ordinary people. However, we do not perceive any real modification in our environments by hearing. Moreover, these people do not take into account possible changes related to tropical phenomena with a significant electrical source that can naturally modify Schumann resonance for a short time. Nor do they consider geo-engineering devices that could synthetically modify organic waves. Devices like HAARP have this capacity, and these tools do exist and have been used for over 80 years by more than 50 countries. It is therefore crucial to consider this factor in these temporary disturbances of Schumann resonances before making sensationalist claims about an "increase in the Earth's vibration," when it is clear that it is temporary and everything always returns to normal with the frequency of 7.83 Hz.
This does not mean that the idea of an inner transformation, a change in consciousness, or a collective transition is meaningless on a human or symbolic level, but simply that this experience cannot be measured or validated by the electromagnetic frequency of the Earth-ionosphere cavity. These are two different registers: metaphor and measurement.
If people are awakening to the potential of bioresonance and biocompatible waves, that is great, but do not confuse one's personal awakening with parameters that govern life on Earth and are constants for that life to be sustainable.
I understand that one can be enthusiastic and passionate because I am one of those people, but I also make a point of taking a step back, taking time to analyze, using common sense and discernment so as not to fall into the trap of sensationalism and saying "Eureka I found it." We are "apprentice sages" and not "apprentice sorcerers," so we have a duty to take a step back and consciously analyze these phenomena before claiming to understand them. It is an initiatory path that takes time; it is up to us to also respect these "cosmic" conventions so as not to mislead some of our emotionally fragile brothers and sisters who are waiting for some form of "savior" or solutions, when everything is already within us.
We are born creatures but not essence; we are creators.
Why this distinction matters, also for sound and well-being
With the naturasounds project, I consciously and respectfully study sound in its primary therapeutic function. It has a real power over the body and mind, and it is precisely for this reason that it seems important to me to distinguish between what falls under measurable physics and what falls under subjective and symbolic experience.
Using 7.83 Hz as an anchoring frequency in a sound practice, meditation, or sleep support retains all its interest and coherence: it is a stable frequency, permanently present in our environment since the Earth existed in its current form, and to which our physiology has adapted over millions of years. Frequency generators include this base frequency, and many people attest to the benefits they experience from it.
On the other hand, building a discourse on a supposed "acceleration of the Earth" undermines the credibility of otherwise serious and well-founded practices. Scientific rigor and the sensible experience of sound are not incompatible: on the contrary, relying on verifiable facts strengthens trust and the value of what is offered.
I am committed, through the phenomenon of reproduction, to confirm that these frequencies truly resonate with living organisms because we are beings of light and we need these biocompatible frequencies for our organism to assimilate some of this life information that vibrates all around us constantly, but also periodically.
As Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose demonstrated with his work in electrophysiology, plants can receive information in the form of waves that appear only once a year (f = 32 nHz) as well as waves emitted 500,000 times per second (f = 500 Khz).
I also add that there is a relationship with the 4th state of water developed by Prof. Gerald Pollack.
I calculated this frequency using the formula H3O2- and we arrive at a frequency of 417.60 Hz.
What is interesting in mathematics, if we revisit Zarlino's work to calculate a natural scale, for an A3, we arrive at this same frequency of 417.60 Hz starting from a base of 7.83 Hz...
Gioseffo Zarlino, a 16th-century Venetian theorist (Le Istitutioni harmoniche, 1558), proposed a scale known as "natural" or "just," constructed not on equal divisions (like modern equal temperament) but on simple integer ratios, reputed to be more consonant to the ear. Unlike the Pythagorean scale (which uses only ratios of 2 and 3), Zarlino introduces the number 5, which results in much "purer" major and minor thirds.

Step 3 — How to simply explain the calculation to your readers
To make it pedagogical in the article, the general formula to remember is:
Note Frequency = (7.83 Hz × 2ⁿ) × Zarlino's ratio
- 7.83 Hz = the natural starting frequency (Schumann resonance, the Earth's electromagnetic "heartbeat")
- 2ⁿ = the number of octaves needed to bring this frequency into the audible range (here n = 5)
- the ratio = the position of the note in the scale, according to Zarlino's simple fractions (1/1, 9/8, 5/4, 4/3, 3/2, 5/3, 15/8, 2/1)
It is this double logic of octavation (bringing a very low natural frequency into the audible spectrum through successive doublings) and integer harmonic ratios (Zarlino's scale) that allows for the construction of a scale entirely "tuned" to the Earth, with an A that naturally falls at 417.60 Hz rather than the 440 Hz of the international standard or the 432 Hz of other schools.
In other words, this frequency of the 4th state of water resonates with the water element but also the earth element, making it a very powerful restructuring frequency.
